Balanced Program With Online and In-Person Learning
Our 10-week dental assistant program balances flexibility with focused training. Classes meet once a week, from 9 am to 6 pm, making it easier to manage other responsibilities. Students complete 25 hours of online learning with self-paced modules and interactive lessons covering dental theory. In-person training is 80 hours of hands-on practice using professional equipment and real clinical exercises, all supported by small class sizes and direct instruction from experienced dental professionals.
Our In-Depth Dental Assistant Program Courses
Radiation Safety Course
This course is a comprehensive 32-hour program typically delivered over two weekends or four days. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience in laboratory and clinical settings.
- Didactic (8 hours) – Theory including radiation physics, biology, safety protocols (ALARA), and California laws.
- Laboratory (12 hours) – Practice on mannequins (e.g., Dexter) to master film placement and exposure techniques.
- Clinical (12 hours) – Supervised experience performing Full Mouth X-rays (FMX) on live patients.
Coronal Polishing Course
California regulations require the 12-hour curriculum to be divided into 3 distinct phases to ensure clinical competency.
- Didactic (4 hours) – Theory-based instruction covering oral anatomy, histology, microbiology as it relates to plaque/calculus, and the California Dental Practice Act’s legal scope. In 2026, many providers offer this as online home study to be completed before the in-person session.
- Laboratory (4 hours) – Hands-on practice in a lab environment using typodonts (mannequins). Students master handpiece control, fulcrum techniques, and the proper use of polishing agents.
- Clinical (4 hours) – Supervised performance for coronal polishing on three (3) live patients.
California Dental Practice Act 2-Hour CE

Developed in strict accordance with the California Code of Regulations (Title 16, Section 1016), this 2-hour mandatory course provides a comprehensive review of the California Dental Practice Act. You’ll review current regulations, recent statutory updates, and the ethical principles required to practice safely and legally in California.
